COUNTRY PROFILES
This site supplies information on the history, economy, and politics of countries and territories. Each profile includes an overview, map, facts and current leaders. A media 0verview provides information on the press, television, radio, news agencies, and number of internet users. Links provided on the side of the profile connect to the latest news and key stories, BBC links. Background articles, related Internet sites, video and audio clips from the BBC archives, recent news links and timelines. Information on more than twenty international organizations is also included.

Language Map

The Modern Language Association Language Map
A Map of Languages in the United States

The MLA Language Map is intended for use by students, teachers, and anyone interested in learning about the linguistic and cultural composition of the United States. The MLA Language Map uses data from the 2000 United States census to display the locations and numbers of speakers of thirty languages and three groups of less commonly spoken languages in the United States. The census data are based on responses to the question, "Does this person speak a language other than English at home?"
